Architecture Dissertation: what dissertation topics to present relating to some new current affairs in architecture?

Architecture is the art and science of scheming out and construct buildings and other physical structures by a person or a computer, primarily to provide shelter. It is the art or science of building; exclusively: the art or practice of designing and building structures and especially livable ones.

For your architecture dissertation you are required to do methodical research work. Architecture is all about originality where as dissertation writing is all about research on a great topic.

Architecture dissertations have a lot to do with the topic. If you choose a good architect dissertation topic it would be much easier for you visualize how your dissertation is going to be. It is like visualizing a building before it stands up. A good topic gives your architecture dissertation a sound platform.

Some great architecture dissertation topics can be:

1. Earthquake design in architecture

2. Building wonder bridges

3. Organic architecture

4. Non rectangular building science

5. The wonder that is Sydney Opera house

6. How architecture affects the environment

7. Form more important then function?

8. Eco-friendly type of architecture packed with state-of-the-art technology for energy conservation like photocells, quantum mechanics, fusion technology, etc.

9.Ultimate design of eco/modern living and why people won't buy such a house and why builders won't build and how easy/difficult it would be to get planning permission etc.?

DISSERTATION: AS DESIGNERS, CAN WE RESTRUCTURE THE SOCIOLOGICAL PATTERNS THAT HAVE BEEN HISTORICALLY CREATED FROM DUPLEX BUILDING WITHIN AN ASSISTED LIVING COMMUNITY.

To understand a client’s vision, among other talents a designer must provide both ample schematics and preliminary guidance necessary to obtain a common goal. One must create enough open doors to fully embrace the design problem and its capacity; then one is ready to deliver the ‘only’ design solution of validity. By exploring the physical and sociological affects of “Biophilic” living within an Assisted Living Community, a grid formation of divisional duplex-quartering has been developed to help create a common bond between human & plant life; of which when uncovered was found similar to the bond between age and time.

Divisional: historically defined as the act of segregating living quarters, has long been the remedy to fire codes, maximizing land use, and accommodating growing population densities. As a consequence, divisional duplex living (with use of solid fire walls) has perpetuated extreme isolation, thus, attributing to lower social concern for neighbors.

Biophilia: literally translates to “love of life or living systems.” A concept of inspiring conscious human acts of incorporating friendship (philia), with nature among one’s dwelling, in turns becomes not only a virtuous act, but an inviting neighborly one as well.
Biophilic design shall be incorporated within a project to offer an “inside-outside” connection; an organic transition between public & private space. Transitions of finger paths branching from a central circulation, or “light-core.”, create unique plant-life nodes that penetrates both interior & outerior spaces. These cores offer moments of social interaction by providing “break-out” verandahs, sheltered walkways, pedestrian gardens, sanctuary alcoves, & evolutionary spaces for future landscape cultivation.
These multistory, 3D, foliage gardens are continuously supplied by the harvesting of footprint water techniques that eventually feed underground cisterns to create grey water. Supplied directly to vertical & horizontal wall-bladder storage systems, the reclaimed grey water is then used for lawn and garden cultivation; as well supplies heated water for the pool and decorative water features.

Our challenge is to revisit the organizational balance of private, semi-private, and public spaces of affordable multi-family dwellings. To rethink construction methods of modular housing by choosing repetition of prefabricated systems, and labor efficient off-site fabrication. In pursuit of LEED certification from the USGBC for this project, a valid design solution of hand selecting vernacular building materials has proven to be a sustainable concept. Paul E.
